Fonts“Efforts to bring advanced typography to the Web have reached an important milestone. Type designers Tal Leming and Erik van Blokland, who had been working to developing the .webfont format, combined forces with Mozilla’s Jonathan Kew, who had been working independently on a similar format. A new Open API has been introduced for PayPal

PayPal has announced their new PayPal X program which will allow developers to integrate PayPal into their own third-party applications.  Users will be able to use PayPal accounts within these third party applications.  If a user doesn’t currently have a PayPal account, they will not have to leave the site to setup a PayPal account; the API will allow developers to include functionality to sign up new people to PayPal through their own site.

The idea is to make PayPal a more standard system of currency on the internet.  Using this system, it will be possible to setup a site to accept payments for rent, applications, and other transactions which typically are not currently handled by PayPal.

As can be expected, there is a fee for the PayPal transactions.  One should evaluate alternatives such as those from Google and Amazon before settling upon PayPal as the transaction system of choice.

More information can be found here.  The API reference is available here.  The SDK can be downloaded here.
